Biography

Celso Tello, MD, after obtaining his Medical degree from the University of Cuenca-Ecuador, he completed his ophthalmology residency at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary in 1998. Following research and clinical fellowships in glaucoma, he joined Drs. Ritch and Liebmann in clinical practice. Dr Tello is presently Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the New York Medical College and Director of the Glaucoma Service at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary where he is responsible for Resident and Fellow glaucoma education. Dr Tello is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Pan-American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Ophthalmic Laser Surgical Society and the New York Society for Clinical Ophthalmology. He was instrumental in developing the clinical applications of ultrasound biomicroscopy. Dr. Tello is the author or co-author of over 165 medical and scientific papers, book chapters, and abstracts, and has lectured nationally and internationally on glaucoma diagnosis and management. He is currently President of the New York Society for Clinical Ophthalmology.
